Personal Injury Attorney Ben Schwartz gives his thoughts on an article he read on insurify.com. Ben does not necessarily agree with the results that have landed Dover, Delaware the number 2 city for the worst drivers in the United States.
Hi, I am Attorney Ben Schwartz,
Today we are going to talk about whether Dover, Delaware is really the number 2 worst city in the entire United States for having the worst drivers. You know folks, I am a little disappointed, I am from Dover, Delaware. I was born in Dover, Delaware. I was raised in Dover, Delaware. I graduated from Dover High School and I’m an accident attorney. I primarily handle personal injury cases involving things like car accidents and our main office is in Dover, Delaware, and that is where I spend most of my time.
I have to tell you, I’m a little bit disappointed because Insurify.com just came out with a blog post indicating that they’ve done the research and the blog post is titled, Top 20 cities with the worst drivers, and I have to tell you that they came up with a list, and guess where Dover, Delaware is? Number two. According to Insurify, Dover Delaware, the percentage of drivers with an at-fault driving incident is 29.91%. The population of Dover is 37,538 people, and that population is 91% more likely to receive a speeding ticket than the average driver and 3% more likely to get in an at-fault accident than the average driver.
I’ve got to tell you that my law firm handles car crash cases all over the place. We handle them in Maryland, we have an office in Salisbury. Our main office is in Dover. We have an office in Wilmington, Delaware. We have got an office just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and in fact, I live up in New Castle County Delaware. I can tell you definitively that Dover, Delaware drivers are far from the worst. In fact, I think that drivers in the Hockessin, Delaware area are some of the worst drivers I have ever seen. The reason I say that is because there is a certain sense of entitlement to the road. You know, in Hockessin people speed past you, run you off the road, and then they flick you off because you were in their way.
You know, there is a certain sense of entitlement, people will roll through intersections not even slowing down much less stopping at the stop sign and then they get mad at you when you had the right of way, and you actually did stop. They will get mad at you for pulling out in front of them. It is nothing like I have ever seen, and I got to tell you but I think the Insurify article is completely off-base. I want to know what do you think. Are the worst drivers in Dover, Delaware? Or, are the worst drivers in Dover, Delaware, or are the worst drivers somewhere else? According to the article, Dover’s number two. Someone asked me, what is number one? It is Greer, South Carolina. I’m not really concerned about Greer, South Carolina. If you are in Greer, or you are from Greer, South Carolina, you have my apology, but I really don’t care about drivers there. I care about drivers where I live, where I work, and where my friends and family are.
I don’t know, what do you think? What do you think about the drivers, are they worse in Dover? Are they worse in Wilmington? Are they worse than Salisbury, Maryland, or Philadelphia? Give us a comment in response to this video blog if you want to read the actual article at Insurify, I will link to it in the show notes at schwartzandschwartz.com, let us know what you think. I am attorney Ben Schwartz, email me if you have questions for me.
